Sylvester Thompson, 84, of Johnston, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston. Sylvester was born on April 4, 1941, to JB and Rena Mae Thompson in West Point, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Willie Mae Brownlee, D.C. Thompson and JB Thompson, daughter, Melissa (Missy) Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memories, children: Brenda Thompson, Gayle Thompson, Linda Aguilar, Lisa Cooley, William "Billy" Thompson, Zachary Van Oostenrijt, Tony Redd, and Jasmine Lelea.
