Obituary

Ocie Lee Love Jr., 76, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, surrounded by his devoted family. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care. His Homegoing Celebration will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Corinthian Baptist Church in Des Moines, with an additional visitation beginning at 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Ocie was born on December 13, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Ocie and Sarah (Jordan) Love Sr., Ocie was raised in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1967. He pursued higher education at Hawkeye Tech and later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Ocie began his professional journey in Freeport, Illinois, working for Honeywell. It was there he met Annie Pearson, and the two were united in marriage on June 24, 1972. In 1977, they relocated to Cedar Falls, where Ocie began a distinguished career at John Deere as an engineer. His work took him across the globe, overseeing the design, production, and inspection of tractor components. In 1996, he transferred to the Ankeny plant and retired in 2004 after decades of dedicated service. A man of faith and community, Ocie was an active member of Corinthian Baptist Church, serving as a trustee, singing with the men's choir, and contributing as a board member of Corinthian Gardens. He also worshipped with the congregation at Hope Elim Church. Ocie found joy in the simple pleasures of life spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and playing racquetball in his younger years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Annie Love of Ankeny, IA; children Dionna (Corey) Ricks of Bowie, MD, Brandon (Nam Le) Love of Thornton, CO, and Misty Love of Aurora, CO; special niece Danielle LeRoy of Aurora, CO; grandchildren Imani Ricks, Immanuel Ricks, Nathan Love, and Ryan Love; siblings Zelda Rae (Ralph) Patterson of South Orange, NJ, and Ethel Love of Waterloo, IA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Ocie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Love and Earl Love. Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the arrangements and care of Ocie and his family.
