Lonnie James Jordan was born May 29, 1950 to Lonnie and Addie Jorden in Earle, Arkansas
He was educated in the Chicago School District and graduated from Marshall High School in 1968. His last employer was Retrograde - A Faith based program and Sober
Living Community, where he served as Intake Coordinator/Mentor for 6 years. In his 19
years of sobriety, he was super proud of being the founder of the Kalona AA Group
2019-2025 and the Inner-City AA Group in Des Moines for 4 years.
Lonnie grew up surrounded by a home full of women and a mother who inspired a faith
in God. He was creative and learned to sew/design clothes just out of high school. The
family had a Gospel group called the Fame Jorden Singers, which Lonnie participated in.
In 1999, Lonnie went on to become a Cosmetologist and specialized in barber-quality
haircuts. As Lonnie had a few nicknames growing up, his cousin reflected that they
called him "Motion" at one time. He was very musical and played a variety of
instruments; of late, he found comfort with the bass guitar. He finally, after embracing
Islam, for some years, accepted Jesus in his life and began playing guitar with Worship
Team at High Point City Church, Kalona, IA.
The family is proud to see that he has overcome life challenges as a younger man and
turned his life around in a profound way. Our family could not be more proud of the life
he lived.
