Obituary

Kenneth John Robertson, (Kenny) age 67, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, February 20th, 2026. Kenny, the son of David and Donna (Dorr) Robertson, was born June 16th, 1958 in Belmond, Iowa. On May 1st, 1982, Kenny was united in marriage to his soul mate, Teri Jean (Poppino) Robertson whom he devoted his life to for almost 44 years. They were blessed with 3 boys who are amazing and dearly loved, Joshua Phillip Robertson (Tabitha Schwierking) Jeremy John Robertson (Felicia Nellius) and Joseph David Robertson. Kenny was larger than life and he lived his life on HIS terms. You either loved Kenny, or you didn't. He spoke his mind and never held anything back. Generally, though, most conversations ended with his big hearty laugh. His choices in life were anything but boring. At a very young age, Kenny found his passion, trapping & hunting, which became a lifelong love that he shared with his family for over 50 years. When the boys were young, Kenny & Teri joined the world of pre-1840 re-enacting which quickly led to starting their own business, Triple "J" Trade Co. Kenny was a very skilled craftsman and took great pride knowing that his leather shooting bags and scrimshawed powder horns were bought by folks all over the U.S. and many other countries. They attended many different rendezvous all over the country, while selling their crafts. In 2002, Kenny bought Harley's for both himself & Teri. Kenny found freedom and happiness riding his motorcycle along side his wife, creating memories on the open road. In 2009, Kenny, Teri & Joseph relocated from Belmond to Des Moines. Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Teri Jean (Poppino) Robertson, his sons, Joshua Phillip Robertson, Jeremy John Robertson and Joseph David Robertson. Kenny is also survived by his cherished grand-daughter, Bryanna Jean Sue Robertson. He is also survived by his sister, Rhonda Winther, Father-in-Law, Phillip Poppino, sister-in-law, Connie Poppino, brother-in-law Robert Poppino, Kenny was proceeded in death by his parents, both maternal & paternal grandparents and 1 sister, Cathy Robertson. We are planning a very casual celebration of life, which we'll announce later this Spring.
