Keith Rankin, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Iowa. Born on December 20, 1951, in Missouri, Keith’s journey was one marked by dedication, love, and a generous spirit that touched many lives along the way.

Keith grew up in St. Louis, where his early years were shaped by the values he held dear throughout his entire life. He graduated from Vashaun High School in 1969, a milestone that marked the beginning of a life filled with hard work and perseverance. Keith devoted two decades of his career as a mover for Mayflower Moving Company, retiring in 2000—a career where his strength, reliability, and amiable nature made lasting impressions on coworkers and customers alike.

For the past 45 years, Keith was a resident of Des Moines Christland Angels, building a home and community founded in faith and warmth. His spiritual journey was significant to him; he was an active member first at Union Baptist Church and later at Kingdom Connections, nurturing a deep and enduring faith.

Away from work and worship, Keith was a man of many passions. He was an extraordinary fisherman, often found by the river or at the fish bank—his calm presence and love for the outdoors were well known among those who spent time with him. Western shows offered him great joy and relaxation, and music was never far from his heart or hands, as he played the guitar to the delight of family and friends. The kitchen was another cherished domain; Keith was an amazing cook, celebrated for his macaroni and cheese and peach cobbler—dishes that brought people together and created cherished memories.

Keith also enjoyed the simple comforts of life, never far from a Pepsi or the familiar solace of his cigarettes. Above all, he loved his family deeply. He found immense joy in the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his face would light up in their presence.

Keith is survived by his loving daughter Keisha Rankin, devoted son Keith Scott, cherished sister Carolyn Weston, caring brother Gerald Rankin, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to honor his legacy. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Rankin, his mother, Etta Rankin, and Novella, spouse of a family member.

Keith Rankin’s memory will be treasured by all who knew him for his kindness, dedication, and the special way he lifted those around him. His was a life well-lived; his love endures in the stories, songs, and traditions he shared with his family and community.
