Johnnie Leroy Collins

Mr. Johnnie L. Collins was born November 23, 1924 in Cuero, Texas.

Johnnie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably until his discharge in 1946.

Johnnie was employed as a Probation officer and supervisor at the men and women's prison lodged at Camp Dodge, Iowa, for over 20 years. He loved music of all genres and was an accomplished musician himself. He played saxophone, guitar, drums and piano. He was a great singer and at one time he also owned a nightclub in the city.

Johnnie passed away October 13, 2015 at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He is survived by his wife, Walretta; his son, Kevin; 2 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
