Harlan Eugene Grimm Sr., 47, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, August 1, 2026. In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned at this time.

Harlan was born on February 1, 1979, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ray and Delores (Grove) Grimm Sr. He was raised in Des Moines, where he built a life centered around the people he loved most. He later married Brandi Smithhart, and together they created a home filled with love as they raised their family in Des Moines.

Harlan found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed racing remote-control cars and stock cars, riding his Harley, and gathering around the table for family dinners. More than anything, he treasured spending time with his family, making memories that will be cherished for years to come.

Left to honor Harlan's memory are his beloved wife, Brandi Grimm; his children, Kimberly Grimm, Harlan "Butchie" (Katelyn) Grimm Jr., Linda Grimm, Violet Adams, and Isabella Grimm; his cherished grandchildren, Harlan Grimm III, Patrick Wilson, Leroy Grimm, Penelope Wilson, Milas Smithhart, Evelyn Kay Grimm, William Grimm, and his unborn grandson, Keys Huse; his mother, Delores Grove; sisters Melissa Grimm and Nikki (Richie) Brown; along with many dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was welcomed into eternal rest by his father, Ray Alan Grimm Sr.; his brother, Ray Alan Grimm Jr.; his father-in-law, Cleo Smithhart; his nephew, Stephone Arends; and his cousin, Kelly Grimm.
