Ernest D. Johnson passed away on January 19, 2021, in Indianola, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ernest was involved in the National Negro Baseball League as a Kansas City Monarch from 1949 to 1953. Following his time as a Monarch, he later played for the Des Moines Bruins for many years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia A. Johnson; daughters, Antonette M. Johnson, Rita J. Dixon; granddaughter, Monique D. Holbert, great-granddaughter, Jayah G. Gandy as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
