Effie Marie Walker, 87, formerly of Sardis, Mississippi, gained her wings peacefully on December 17th, 2025, in Des Moines, IA, joining her 3 boys: Michael Walker Sr, Richard Walker Sr., and Haywood Walker. Effie leaves behind her granddaughter and grandson, whom she raised as her own: Michael Walker Jr. and Meosha Walker. As well as her other grandchildren, who loved her dearly and who she loved. Effie retired from Des Moines Public Schools, where she was a school bus driver for 21 years. She positively impacted society by providing safe, reliable transportation for students. She was a vital community figure for many. She loved cooking and baking. She loved spending time with her family. Effie had such a strong faith in the Lord! She was a mother at multiple churches in Des Moines. She was a mother to most people she came into contact with. She was strong-willed, hard-working, and a generous person who was always willing to help if she was able. Her sassy sense of humor was unmatched. She will be dearly missed and, in our hearts, forever.
