Dwayne Allen Coleman, Sr., age 57, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and devotion to his family. He was born on February 12, 1968, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Deotis Coleman, Sr. and Shirley Ann Coleman.
Dwayne was raised and educated in Des Moines, Iowa, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School. After high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and distinction. His military career included assignments at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard and the 32nd Street Naval Station in San Diego, California. He served aboard the USS Missouri and the USCGC Cuyahoga, with additional service in Virginia.
Dwayne accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized while serving in the Navy. He attended his childhood church Mt Hebron Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1989, Dwayne married Michelle Crisp to that union three children were born: Dwayne, Xaria; and William. They always held special place in his heart.
Later, in 2004, he married Dayna Johnson and loved her daughter, Dejakneeya as his own. Dwayne and Dayna were blessed with the birth of Darius. Who was always a "Daddy's Boy".
In 2011, Dwayne married Sayree Pierson. To that union, he welcomed into his heart her children, Markayla, Lydez, Ly’Derius and Layton. They were also blessed with two children, Dawan and Ly’Daijia. Dwayne raised them all with love and care as one family.
Dwayne had a deep love for his family and was known for his generous heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to those he cared for. He will be remembered for his joyful laughter, vivid storytelling, and the immense pride he took in all his children and grandchildren.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, Deotis Coleman, Sr.; brother, Deotis Coleman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Theresa Coleman; and great-niece Jailynn Santiful.
Dwayne is survived by his children: Dwayne Coleman, Xaria Coleman, William Coleman, Darius Coleman, Dejakneeya Johnson, Dawan Coleman, Ly’Daijia Coleman, Markayla Williams, Lydez Williams, Ly’Derius Williams, and Layton Manning-Bey; loving mother, Shirley Ann Coleman; siblings: Denise (Paul) Cavil, Tyrone Steven Clay, David Coleman, Danette Hester; 13 grandchildren and his godsons, TalBray Jackson Jr. and Anthony Jackson. In addition, Dwayne is remembered fondly by his beloved uncle, Frank Robinson, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, dear friends and his devoted companion, Lacresha Pace.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all that knew him.
