Dawn Michelle Farmer-Hall, 56, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Des Moines, IA surrounded by the love of her family. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care in Des Moines. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at True Bible Baptist Church, 4101 Amherst St., Des Moines, Iowa 50313. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Dawn was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on December 27, 1969, to David Farmer and Nancy McCaughey. She spent her early years in Des Moines before her family relocated to Sidney, Montana. Although she loved the quiet, serene beauty of Montana, Dawn eventually returned to Des Moines with her family and continued her education at Saydel High School.

It was during her high school years that Dawn met the love of her life, Troy Hall, at a local teen dance club, Mike T’s. From that first meeting, a special love story began. Dawn graduated from Saydel High School with the Class of 1988, and soon after, she and Troy began building their life and family together in Des Moines.

Dawn was a beautiful person inside and out—a true free spirit who never needed an invitation to bring the fun. Dawn was always the life of the party, the friend who could light up a room, and a fierce protector of the people she loved. She had a big heart, a bold personality, and a way of making memories wherever she went.

Dawn loved spending time with her family and friends and never shied away from enjoying life. She loved going shopping, tanning, dressing to impress, dancing, collecting big purses, and listening to music. She knew how to have a good time and encouraged those around her to do the same. Whether she was dressed to the nines, dancing to her favorite song, or simply surrounded by the people she loved, Dawn was happiest when life was full of laughter, music, and togetherness.

Above all, Dawn treasured her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her grandchildren lovingly knew her as Grandma “D,” and the love she had for her grandchildren was unmistakable. Dawn's family was her greatest joy, and the memories she created with them will remain treasured for generations to come.

Those left to cherish Dawn's beautiful memory are her husband, Troy Cornelius Hall Sr.; children, Latasha Lynn (Richard) Walker, Troy Cornelius Hall Jr., and Jachaun Cornelius Hall; grandchildren, Richie, Vinny, Livy, and Najila; mother, Nancy (Brad) Bailey; father, David (Julie) Farmer; mother-in-law, Kathleen M. Hall; siblings, Matt (Mindy) Farmer, Jeff Farmer, Mike Farmer, and Tracy (Loni) Williams, Latisha Hall, Doreen Thompson, Alena Nelson and Ralph Hall Jr. along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Dawn was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Betty McCaughey; father-in-law, Ralph Cornelius Hall Sr.; niece, Ashley Marie Hall; cousin, Lori Goode; and close friends, Ann Williams and Edina Palmer.

Dawn's life was colorful, joyful, and full of personality. She loved fiercely, protected those she cared about, and never apologized for being exactly who she was. She was the kind of person who could walk into a room and make it feel brighter simply by being there. Her laughter, her style, her free spirit, and her unmistakable presence will be deeply missed.

Though Dawn may no longer be here to dance, laugh, shop, listen to music, or gather with the people she loved, the joy she brought into their lives will never be forgotten. Her family and friends will carry her memory forward in every story they tell, every song that reminds them of her, and every celebration where they can almost feel her dancing beside them.

Dawn lived life in her own beautiful way—and she left the world a little brighter because she was in it.
