He carried with him the memory of a sister who always looked out for him, protected him from bullies, and remained deeply connected to him throughout their lives.

Connie Ethel Coleman, née Hudson, passed away on September 9, 2026, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born on December 22, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa.

Connie grew up in Exline, Iowa. She attended Ellie Mae country school in Exline and later went to high school in Ankeny, graduating in 1966. In time, she moved to Mesa, where she built a long career and was known for her dedication and skill. She served as head cake decorator for Bashas' Grocery for 25 years, a role that reflected both her creativity and her steady commitment to her work.

Connie will also be remembered through the loving memories shared by those closest to her. Her younger brother remembered childhood outings when, at just 3 and 5 years old, they were lifted onto the counter of a small-town restaurant and danced for everyone there, delighting the room. He carried with him the memory of a sister who always looked out for him, protected him from bullies, and remained deeply connected to him throughout their lives. Even when distance separated them, their hearts stayed closely linked.

Her brother remembered Connie as an older sister with a big heart, someone whose memory will continue to bring joy in the years ahead. Her brother also shared that Connie held a quiet but sincere faith in God, one that was simple, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful to her. That faith remains a source of comfort to those who love her.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Coleman; her father, Floyd Hudson; her mother, Mildred Smith; and her brother, Berdette Hudson.

She is survived by her children, daughter Zoronna Ellis and sons Anthony (Angie) Ellis, Gary Lee (Alicia) Ellis, and Trey (Lacey) Coleman; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Brian (Diana) Hudson, and her sister, Becky (Rick) Walker. May the love Connie gave to her family, the memories she leaves behind, and the bonds she nurtured continue to bring comfort and peace to all who knew her
