Born on October 8, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, Calvin Glenn Hill was the cherished son of Robert L. and Lorene Hill. At the young age of eight, his family relocated to Waterloo, Iowa, where he would later graduate from East High School in 1980. Throughout his professional life, he dedicated many years to working in laundry delivery. After high school, Calvin went to Phoenix, AZ, where he met Linda Armstrong. Their union brought forth the joy of their beautiful daughter Mia, who was a source of endless pride and happiness for Calvin. In August of 2016, Calvin found Lorna Mayberry after moving from Arizona to Des Moines, Iowa. A man of diverse interests, Calvin had a passion for playing basketball, running track, and immersing himself in music, whether through listening or sharing his talent for singing and rapping. He treasured his time spent with family and friends, and he was known for his remarkable ability to fix anything, embodying the spirit of a true jack of all trades. Calvin Glenn Hill, age 63, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. Calvin is preceded in death by his beloved parents and siblings: Melvin, Leroy, Katherine, Reba, Vanessa, and John. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife, Lorna Hill; daughter, Mia Hill; stepchildren Tarel Mayberry, James Miller, and Latressa Wade; and grandchildren, Jameah Whyte, Breion McWilliams, Shiyah Taylor, Taniah Boatley, Zion Brown, Zaemaire Wade, Mataeo Brown, Malaysia Brown and James Miller Jr. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Dorothy), Audrey (Johnny), Lorenna, Jerry, Sherman (Chris), and Kendrick Hill, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss his presence. Calvin Glenn Hill will be remembered for his kindness, vivacious spirit, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
