Bertrum "Herky" Burkett

Bertrum "Herky" Burkett, 66, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. A celebration of life will be held on February 2, 2024, at Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  

Herky grew up in Des Moines where he attended East High School. He enjoyed playing sport and watching sports.

Those left to cherish his memories are his father Odell Jenkins; daughter Herisha Burkett; son Davon Smith; grandchildren DreShon Frazier, Aniya Hickman, Alontae Butts, Alyzea Smith, and Daimaeja Smith; siblings Steven (Ronesha) Garrett, Johnita (Romelle) Slaughter, Marc Jenkins, and Chester (Thelma) Fugate Jr.; many nieces and nephews; many cousins; and close friends.

Herky was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Jenkins and brother Robert Smith.

Henderson Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Herky and his family.
